So as you know its been such a hectic few weeks for me .. moving homes and settling in. I did not have internet for the longest time ever. Haha! It really was difficult .. i missed blogging .. my schedules .. all that but i had time to read. i read alot and now here is one of the books i was able to read during this time. A book i really enjoyed and im sure you would love it too.
'Hind is granted a temporary Reprieve from her impending marriage to Abdulla, her cousin. Little does anyone suspect That the Presence of Sangita, her Indian roommate, may shake a Carefully constructed future. Torn between loyalties to Hind and a growing attraction to Abdulla, Sangita must choose between friendship and a Burgeoning love. A modern quest for the right to pursue happiness and love, even when it comes in an unconventional package, LOVE COMES LATER explores similarities between the South Asian and Arab cultures the while exposing how cultural expectations Affect both men and women. Identities are tested and questioned boundaries against the shifting of Backdrops Doha, Qatar and London, England '
MY THOUGHTS:
Its a light read! I love that! The author's style of writing is simple and pretty straightforward. There is no unnecessary description of places, objects or unwanted distractions. I know some readers do love that but i always seem to skip too much details and get on with the real stuff. You know what i mean. I didnt have to do that at all when i was reading this book because i read every single sentence .. every single word effortlessly. Its a bad habit i know but concentrating on a book is the hardest thing these days having a toddler running around .. a soup on the stove .. you know how that is. So basically it is a comfortable, simple and calming writing style that made me able to read longer without making my brains tired. No long paragraphs of that and this. Love the writing style. Definitely gripping in a calm rested manner.
So getting to the story line itself. Its all about love, family, friendship, marriage and all those complications. Its lovely how the story starts at one point and revolves from there bringing in so many aspects. It very easily and slowly turns into a beautiful story. I must admit i really did not predict the ending .. (And i know the story doesnt end there! Im hoping to read more about the characters lives!) I did have a few ideas but its not your usual 'love story'. It gives a slight glimpse into the Qatar culture and their style of living which was really interesting for someone who doesnt know too much about the Arab culture and do you learn a lot of new things about their culture. Especially the similarities between South East Asians and Middle East! Its amazing to learn how similar we are! And how we can connect to them quite easily! Looks like we all face the same problems of life and love!
I will not go into the story too much because i will be giving away 2 copies to 2 lucky winners and i know how you hate it when i give too much details and spoil it for you! So i will say no more. Haha!
